One of my dads co-workers' cat bit one of her relatives the other day. The victim could either turn the cat in or suffer through painful rabies shots, so the cat was turned in..he was quarantined and even got his mugshot taken. It's all very dramatic and apparently a source of laughter amongst the office. So I offered to join in on the joke and draw the cats mugshot, his name is Catfish Pflum and I know I spelled "Police" wrong but w/e. It should also be know that he is a Maine Coon, a breed known for being really goofy, hyper and ridiculously HUGE. Google "Maine Coon" and check out some pictures, in the meantime here is my rendition:
I've been playing with Fruity Loops (aka FL STUDIO) alot lately and have made a couple of songs but this one is by far my favorite, everything is composed and written by me, there isnt any preset stuff. I usually dont like music programs because they dont let you really compose the music but FL let me write a complelty original song. What do you guys think? Oh and the title is just to give it a name but w/e it doesnt really matter...

1. I love orange soda and grape soda...not together though lol. I dont understand why nobody else enjoys those wonderful flavors...
2. The first comic book i ever had was an X-Men vs. The Avengers that my dad got me when I was about 10. I've been an Avengers nerd ever since...not so much X-Men...
3. I learned how to swim by falling into the pool.
4. I love to fly but i can get afraid of heights sometimes...
5. I used to have two guinea pigs and discovered that if you pet them on their backs in just the right spot, they purr like cats, its hilarious.
6. I am known amongst my friends for always trying to weird burgers that come out now and then, like the pastrami burger or the Kong whopper.

8. Despite my hated of spiders and other creepy bugs I can rarely bring myself to kill a bug in my house, and when I do I usually feel bad lol

Ok so LaidOutInLavender just tagged me, so I guess the rules are I just have to list 8 songs and the memories they bring back, so here goes....
8. Toxicity - System of a Down.
This song came out when I was in Jr. High, I was about 13 or 14 at the time and this song (along with the rest of the album) really gave me the push I needed to start playing music. At the time I liked music and playing it, I played drums in the elementary school band but had to quit for Jr. High cuz my dad didnt think it was academic enough or something. When I started listening to SOAD it was different (and still is) then anything else I heard before. So it was around this time that I saved up and bought a cherry red, used, 4 string, bass guitar. Later my uncle helped my buy this HUGE bass amp, that I hauled back and forth between my parents houses. I learned every single SOAD song by heart with that bad boy.
7. Dammit - Blink 182
To me this is the perfect summer song. For me summer, just the thought of it, gets me excited, even if i'm just gonna be working all summer. Once again this brings me back to Jr. High/Highschool, everything was exciting back then. Everything was new, I was really getting into music, exploring different instruments, getting used to high school, making memories etc. I can't really pin one moment on this song, its just a feeling, that brings me back to a hot sunny day, baggy pants and skater shoes, mountain dew and funions, swimming at my friend Mitch's house, jamming with my friends, hiding in my room playing my bass for hours at a time, filling pages with bass lines that I wrote. Gives me goosebumps :)
6. Basket Case - Green Day
When a friend of mine introduced me to Green Day, I was hooked. I got Dookie and listened to it over and over...and over. I think it was because of this song that I really wanted to start playing guitar and playing in a band. Before Green Day, I didnt know what power chords were. Soon I sold my bass for like 80 bucks, saved up a little more and bought a generic electric guitar and a little 10 watt amp. It was sparkly blue and had terrible action, but it was my first guitar electric guitar :)
5. Cute w/o the E ( Cut from the team) - Taking Back Sunday
This is back before they got famous. On a whim I bought a mix cd at the mall for 5 bucks and TBS was on there. I was hooked, I had heard nothing like them before and it really opened my mind to new forms of song writting. Til this point, I had been playing nothing but 3 chord songs. TBS was progressive, thoughtful and rocked when they needed to. It was great. I remember falling asleep night after night listening to their cd 'Tell all your friends'. They also opened me up to indie music, I know they arent indie but at the time they werent mainstream and were generally asociated with indie bands. This was around my first and second year of highschool. I also remember really loving this band and then getting bugged when I'd see the cool kids wearing TBS shirts, because it was the cool thing to do. TBS has two more great albums but Tell All Your Friends is my favorite, it represents a turning point in my life ( musically ).
4. Swing Swing - The All American Rejects
This reminds me of summer vacations in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I would visit friends and family. Hang out with my cousins. We'd drive around late at night listening to music and joking with eachother. It also reminds me of an old friend of mine who over time I really liked but then found out what kind of a person she really was. It really hurt and in fact, she is the one that turned me onto AAR. For a while I couldnt listen to that song w/o those feelings coming back, now I just remember them but thats it. I found somebody that makes me feel complete and who loves me very very much, she makes up for those bad feelings and then some :)
3. War All The Time - Thursday
This album to me is the opposite of Dammit by Blink 182. I dont have a favorite season, instead I love different things about each. Summer is fun and dumb and exciting. WInter is somber, thoughful, quiet and personal and vulnerable. Thursday reminds me of cold rainy winter mornings. Specifically my senior year of high scool, I went to the community college which was actually in another town. Every morning I would wake up at 5 when it was still dark, I'd walk or drive to the bus stop and wait for the bus, watching my breath freeze in mid-air. When I drove, I had the windows open ( I still do that when its cold out, Kara doesn't like it, she gets too chilly :P). I rode my bike to school in Jr. HIgh and elementary school. What really stuck out in those days were the winter mornings when I had to ride though the cold, the rain stung my face, I was alone and had plenty of time to think to myself. I don't ride my bike to school anymore but if I'm ever out late at night and driving home, I roll down my windows and drive really slow (theres no traffic in Chico when its late) and just think, pray, whistle, or just enjoy the silence and the street lights. When I get home, I'll lie in bed with the window open, listening to the rain or the frogs or just the sounds of traffic in the distance all while enjoying the cold breeze. Winter or cold weather in general brings back all those feelings, I get hopeful and adventurous and quiet (sometimes). Thursday reminds me of winter and in turn brings up all the feelings/memories that come with winter. The weather is one of many reasons why I love San Francisco.
2. Ruby - Kaiser Chiefs
I downloaded this album after stumbling upon it online. I didnt know they were a hit in the UK and I had no idea that they would be on the radio a month later. I love this song because it reminds me of the a trip to Disney Land I took with my family and Kara. It was a lot of fun, a whole weekend with absolutely no worries or stressing about school or work. It was great spending so much free time with Kara, going on rides, goofing around, sharing a huge turkey leg (which to this day I swear was made of ham)...It's a good memory :)
1. Fire & Rain - James Taylor
It's funny, the only reason I didnt play in the school band through Jr high and Highschool is my Dad but at the same time, he is the one that got me into music. He'd always be singing to me or to himself, his favorite records were James Taylor. After the divorce, it was just me and my dad (on his week) and James Taylor songs always bring me back to being 5 years old with my dad still unsure about why my parents spit. He was my best friend then. We've had drama and fights and differences and over time our relationship has changed (for better or for worse) but back then, I wanted to be just like my dad, he was stronger and better than anyone else, he was always there to protect me from anything. Despite the things he does that irritate and frustrate me to no end, he still is the dad I remember. I can't even think about this song (Or any JT song for that matter) w/o the 'ol waterworks turning on. It brings back very very sad and lonley memories but very very happy ones too. I love you dad.
Awesome, thanks! :) read more
